The history of the khadi has been woven into time. Khadi, a symbol of patriotism, was a major armament in the non-cooperative movement led by Mahatma Gandhi. The slogan back then was to get rid of foreign materials and use only local items; this was done in order to diminish the exploitative trade and weaken the financial strength of the British and make greater India self-reliant in every way.
