Ned Scott speaking at Consensus 2018

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

Ned Scott was spotted at the biggest blockchain event in the world, Consensus 2018.

Ned Scott was recently on a speaking tour in Asia, giving talks at South Korean media companies as well as Universities.

It is looking like he wrapped that up and is now in New York.

This was taken yesterday at the Content Monetization and True Net Neutrality conference in the Grand Ballroom West:

Ned spoke on the future of social media.

Specifically, this was the topic they discussed:

"While there’s a political debate going on around net neutrality, it amounts to little more than who gets to profit from content creators: internet service providers or platform providers like Youtube and Facebook. This panel convenes a group of people who flip this debate so that content creators have skin in the game to monetize their creations."

Not surprising Ned would be asked to speak on this topic as the CEO of Steemit.com.

The other guys on the panel are Ryan Shea of Blockstack, Adi Sideman of YouNow, and Brady Dale of Coindesk.

Unfortunately Ned Scott is the only one that appears to be sleeping during the debate. (I joke, the camera caught him mid blink)

Steem and Steemit represented this year.

It's unfortunate that Ned didn't give a steem and steemit specific pitch (that I am aware of), but this was better than nothing. At least steem and steemit were represented this year as opposed to years past.

It looks like Ned put up a video of his discussion that can be found here as well:

Here's to hoping SMTs are coming down the pipeline in the near future.

Steem could use an injection of some excitement.

Stay informed my friends.

Awesome! Good find, and this is big news. Steem will get lots of new eyeballs from big investors so let’s see if Steem pops accordingly. Would be nice to get back up in $6-$8 range! 🤞🏻

Those numbers sound good to me! Though I am thinking it may take a few months still before we see those kinds of numbers again. We need SMTs to launch sooner rather than later.

If steem goes to 8$ then what abot sbd man ??????????

Although he didn't bring to talk about Steem, his presence has a positive impact. We can say he is better than Satoshi Nakamoto, lol.

Hoping for some blockbuster to be announced; guess we missed it. STEEM ON!

Why does Steem and Steemit not get way more hype, talk, and respect? Steem and its success, growth, vision, adoption, transactions per second and history deserve way more props then it gets.

Steem never gets mentioned in the same breath as ETH, BTC, or LTC, and yet its arguably more important than any of them, today.

I would argue that it shouldn't be mentioned with those coins, yet. However it currently sits at number 32 on coin market cap and I can name about 17 coins that should not be in front of it. Your guess is as good as mine as to why that is.

It seems like we mainly just have a bunch of techy people leading steemit which is in a way is good because you need to have things running smoothly but it doesn't seem like we have the greatest promotional team. It seems like Ned is officially our main promoter but I think he's more of a tech guy.
I think Steem should be about 100% higher but I also think SBD should be lower. I think in the end though things will work out and I'm hoping to see $10 Steem by the end of this year.

Well said sir. The respect that i have for the steemit platform is unequaled.

I think Ned is smart in that he is trying to explain the general concept of the social media crypto and not hype up Steemit. With all these different crypto names flying around, he doesn't want people to get confused! People need to understand Steem first before they use it.

Of course he was sleeping, he is jet-lagged from coming from South Korea :p

Oh yes, good catch!

Hahah!!!!
Publicity on Steem is hitting the crypto waves and gaining momentum. Steem will no doubt do better than it did at the end of last year

Thanks for sharing. Would love to see Ned share more of the aspects of Steem that have been a success and how he is leveraging that into his new ventures.

Good to read, thanks a lot for the news. Big things are brewing for us all on Steemit for us all on Steemit... ;)

Namaste :)
