Do I do what I feel or what I should do?

There are times in life when we find ourselves at a crossroads, we have the option of following our impulses or doing what we know will allow us to go further.

This is usually a key struggle in terms of our personal development and growth, managing these options well is what separates us from stagnation or success.

Emotions play a very important role in our lives. Remember that we are emotional beings. Emotions tell us how we feel at any given moment and what are the things that we are passionate about. Even so, if we only do what we feel at any given moment, we may end up putting off those tasks that are very important or simply not doing them because we don't feel like doing them at that moment. If we talk about discipline, it is totally different, since discipline conditions us to act according to our goals, even if we don't feel like it or we are not motivated. Now the very important question is the following: does this help me or does it take me away from what I want to achieve?

Discipline although it may seem otherwise is the construction of our own freedom, at the beginning when we must do what we propose it seems very difficult almost impossible or simply tedious, but little by little being consistent and disciplined in what we know we must do we obtain the results that we expect, this in turn, gives us that great feeling of achievement that no other short-term satisfaction can compare, an example is exercising day after day, this may not always be fun or we will not always have the desire to do it but if that cumulative effect based on discipline will allow us to be who we want to be.

We should not go to the extreme of completely ignoring our emotions, what we should do is create a balance between our emotions and our responsibilities, each has its place. We can give ourselves small breaks or permissions to enjoy ourselves but this should not get in the way or delay the race towards the established goal.

A super practical example that I leave you below is the following: first we do what we have to do and then we reward ourselves by giving ourselves a prize for something that makes me feel good.

I hope you reflect on this and leave me your comments about it.
