At least 20 years ago, most of us had fun playing ball or maybe it was also fun to read a book, but nowadays 95% of people have their eyes glued to their cell phones, maybe we are missing out on the best things in life?
When we talk about digital wellbeing and the possibility of disconnecting to reconnect, it reminds us that there are times when we simply forget to look around to enjoy the simpler things in life. Our cell phone is too good for many things, but it can never replace a conversation with someone we care about, a friend or our partner, much less a walk through a beautiful place.
Right now I remember when I was a kid and my mom would come out to the sidewalk to call me with a shout while I was playing on the soccer field with my friends, a call to have a snack usually at 5 in the afternoon. Today, at least in my environment, this doesn't happen, each child usually has his or her own cell phone, and in the squares you see children sitting with screens glued to their eyes.
What can we do about it? Understanding that the entire system, society and everything else leads us to continue in the same way, the decision to change things is individual, you and I can do something today to change this and not only so that we can live this way but also help those we love to live connected to another type of reality, to that reality that we loved since we were children.
Let's do this: we start a project like reading a book, exercising or just taking some time with our family and children, that will allow us to take care of our bodies and our minds, especially the relationships that are so important to live a fully happy life. I invite you to take on a challenge that I'm too sure will do you good and above all very happy, take at least two hours one day a week and schedule it so you don't forget, in these two hours you must do something you like with someone, it can be an outing, sharing a conversation, or simply sharing some mates. Let this become a habit, maybe not always with the same person, but do it as a must and you will see that this will change your life, I assure you.
This is a simple, super practical tip that will help you improve your digital life. Let this type of life not dominate your life, let you be the one who takes control of your life to make yourself happier. Do you accept the challenge? Let me know.
