Anxiety is a natural response of our body to different situations such as: stressful situations or situations of uncertainty.
In this sense, stress in small doses at the right time can help us to be much more focused and alert, but when stress becomes constant, the situation becomes overwhelming and this can directly affect physical, emotional and above all mental well-being.
Now the question is the following: why is it vitally important to manage anxiety? First of all, managing anxiety considerably improves our quality of life since it allows us to enjoy the present time much more and in this way make decisions with greater clarity, thus facing challenges without feeling any kind of paralysis.
Managing anxiety also helps us protect our physical health because when we suffer from anxiety constantly, that is, chronic anxiety, it can lead us to suffer from conditions such as insomnia, migraine, fatigue or muscle tension among many other things.
When we learn to manage anxiety we are also learning to communicate better with ourselves and with other people at the same time this allows us to reduce redundant worries and thus be able to focus on our goals to be much more productive and efficient at all times.
What can we do on a daily basis to effectively manage anxiety? The first thing is the simplest and easiest to do, the first thing is to do conscious breathing, how? Let's take a few minutes a day to take deep breaths and the way would be as follows: inhale for four seconds, hold your breath for another four seconds, and exhale for the next four seconds. When we are doing this breathing let's also incorporate gratitude, let's remember the 3 things for which we are grateful and this helps us change the focus from the negative to the positive.
Mental organization is also very important, for this it is necessary to organize the tasks by making a list of priorities that helps us not to feel overwhelmed by the tasks and thus focus on everything that we can control.
We cannot ignore digital disconnection, that is, set aside a moment to get away from screens and mobile devices. Here we can also incorporate, or rather, we must incorporate physical activities. We must move our body, walk, run, practice some discipline such as yoga or martial arts to be able to release tension and thus reduce stress levels.
These are some practices that we can put into action from now on and thus manage the anxiety that may have us trapped or in a vicious circle without being able to move forward. Let us remember that anxiety does not define who we are and by taking a small step day after day we can recover our life and thus live with a purpose and calmly. Do you dare to start today?
