The great pitcher Dennis Eckersley is a recovering alcoholic. He said one day a fan came up to him and said that he'd been dry for a long period of time (I don't remember how long) and that the inspiration for quitting came from Eckersley, so he just wanted to shake his hand. Eckersley said that made his day.
