RE: Rethinking The Position of Upvote Bots in the Steem Ecosystem (without SMTs)

This. All integrated in the blockchain, completely with transactions mechanism, in order for it to also work on alt-interfaces and, of course, for transparency.

I think we as a community need to figure out our own way how to handle this situation.

I indeed think that's what @ned, and Steem Inc, expect from us. We, Steemians, are to make this happen via the democratic governance structure of the blockchain. Steem Inc does not want to interfere there, and to be honest they shouldn't either. I have previously referred in comments to how governance happens in kingdoms in MMOs... or doesn't.

We, the citizens, define our future. This was also emphasized during @sneak's talk when he mentioned the roadmap.

That said, I hope we can come up with something slightly more novel than every x-th post. :/

It should be native advertising though and also properly disclosed as boosted.

Actually, this will be not very bad - funny thing is, when new people will see that on platform, they will think, that this is a source of all rewards of other users.

And to be honest - I think a lot of users will be less suspicious about that Steemit, even if they will later learn, that Steem works in a different way, and funds from promotion just helps reduce supply of SBD.

That said, I hope we can come up with something slightly more novel than every x-th posts. :/

We do not need to have something perfect. We need to have something better. If this will not work, this can be removed or changed.

This will work. I've done that since 2010, managing a blog network. The behemoths also do it.

Ebay has done it ever since premium listings.

Sometimes we don't need to reinvent the wheel. But boy can dream nevertheless. :D
