I doubt other social streams will start monetizing posts in the same manner -- though it would keep people connected even more. More connection more advertising revenue... There are a lot of other "decentralization" projects going on -- such as POE that may do similar things. LBRY is another one for video curation specifically. I think Facebook is going to end up becoming more integrated with television we've already seen this via livestreams and the deals they have to 'screen' various television shows -- so they'll already have plenty of people online constantly which means more Ad revenue they don't want to share.
