School actually manages to divert attention from true life skills, such as maintaining your wallet, taking care of plants, social interaction, self-worth, etcetera. I completely understand your son!
When parents are under-educated, they want instruction for their children. When parents are well-educated, they want their children to develop "true life skills, taking care of plants, social interaction". Thus, the concept of education varies across countries, cultures and time
