A persistent issue with academic publishing and putting out knowledge there in public domain is that much of the work we do in writing and publishing our work in public domain goes unpaid (well, our remuneration comes from our institutions where we work and teach).

I see many academics and researchers publishing in theconversation, which I believe is done pro bono.

Theconversation is strict in their selection of authors and articles. Hence the academic and research community could possibly choose the steem blockchain as another platform to publish their articles freely and earn at the same time.
