RE: Steem Thoughts - Inequitable Value Between Users and Apps
Don't all these dApps take a cut?
And if they don't take a cut, like Steem Monsters, they create revenue from purchases.

Not all. For example Steemit.com and SteemPeak.com do not take beneficiary rewards by default.

Steem Inc owns a few accounts with large holdings, which benefits from prices going up.
As far as SteemPeak, it would seem, that if you use their app to create a post, they benefit.

This applies for any account holding Steem. Price can go either way, so I don't think it is a fair to treat it as a reward
SteemPeak has beneficiary function but it is not enabled by default. Users have to make a conscious decision to turn it on. Which I guess most people won't.
