What is more important, being happy yourself, or making others happy?

 Once you make people happy, you yourself would feel happy too. But if you speak of importance of course you have to be happy yourself to be able to make others happy. If you are an unhappy person do you think you can make others happy? Everything starts from within and you have to take care of yourself first to be able to take care of others. Thus it is more important being happy yourself. 

 Well, I like to be happy but sometimes other people's happiness is what makes me happy. I absolutely love to make someone else happy. I've alway been the peacekeeper in my family of four sisters, being the oldest, I noticed if they were happy they werent getting into mischief, so I used to invent ways of keeping them that way! 

  think that perhaps happiness is overrated. It's only skin deep, so to speak. What does it mean to say t ghat you are happy? Does it mean that you are content with yourself. Can an immoral person be as happy as, or happier than, a moral person. For instance, a rapist can be happy that her does what he does. A child can be happy with getting away with a bad deed. Happiness is superficial and passing. Perhaps we should be speaking being joyous and what we can do to be joyful.
