We need YOUR thoughts! COMMUNITY SURVEY regarding the new SMT(Smart Media Tokens)! Come and Give your OPINION!
Basics
If you havent seen, @ned has announced the introduction of Smart Media Tokens. I will keep it extremely basic but will provide resources below that are very in depth. Basically you can create your own tokens and reward people with them... Consider this my communal duty @ned, I will be compiling community questions etc and making a post next week for you to look over! I will sift through the trolls etc and present statistics straight from the community!
Announcement vlogs:

This is what WE want to KNOW:
What are your initial reactions to SMT?
Do you see this as a positive movement for the community or a negative one? and why?
What are your main concerns?
What are your main questions?
We will be compiling the data received via comments below at the 7 day period and will be updating all of you with our findings. WE LOOK FORWARD TO ENGAGING ALL OF YOU! <3

Frankly I'm still somewhat confused by the process.
I understand the basic concept, but if it requires math on my part,
I and my readers may not see it implemented well.
Thank you for your input! The links post above contain all the info I have been able to find. I hope it helps!
I'm very excited for SMTs as it makes the Steemit blockchain the Ethereum of media. The idea behind Steemit is amazing and now instead of others trying to copy the idea, to use the benefits received when members are rewarded for feedback, they can use the exact process already refined by its use on Steemit.com. I'm super excited and even more so after seeing the markets reaction to the announcement the last 2 days! :)
The market is reacting well! Thanks for the input buddy! Steem on! STEEM TO THE MOON!
The moon might be an exciting goal for Bitcoin, Steem's going past the moon to Jupiter!
Right there with ya! I am very excited to see that!
It's positive! SMT brings possibilities for niche tokens. Maybe it does compete with the BitShares-based systems, but competition is only good for progress and technological advancement.
Frankly I don't have many concerns at the moment, as long as it helps mass adoption of blockchain based technologies, it's good for me :)
Would like to discuss concerns though, who has them and what are they?
I like this viewpoint, well said.
Very well said my friend! lol. Thanks for the input- It will be an interesting next week on the market :)
Yeah I mean the obvious question is why @ned is saying that it is his idea since it beyondbits and whaleshares already worked this way and we were doing UIA's on the BitShares DEX already?
I mean I have nothing against people improving the community, more the opposite but I found this a bit strange. I also don't know how #SMT works exactly yet but you know doing this together will be the best thing we can do and let's hope we can be a family with good and fruitful arguing :-)
He prefers to build in on Steem, which is only logical since he's CEO of Steemit Inc.
Apart from that, the Steem architecture has a lot of experience with content, transactions and scalability. On these aspects Steem is currently outperforming every other blockchain implementation. This is why Steem as the backbone also seems like a good idea to me.
And I don't work for Steemit Inc btw.
I agree, this has been done via DEX... but this brings light to the whole text message fiasco that happened with ned/whaleshares etc and shows where ned was coming from (bringing down whaleshares etc right before bringing an idea like this to light?) It shows to me the people who are worthy of trust (@officialfuzzy whaleshares beyondbit etc) not the CEO ned (who in my opinion is ultimately looking out for his own wallet.)
Thanks for the comments guys, I browsed through the whitepaper and it looks intriguing. I never saw such documentation for the Whaleshares and all so in that way it looks appealing. Maybe this is not a bad thing. What do you guys think?
What are your initial reactions to SMT?
This is a nice move from Steem allowing the issuing of tokens and attracting users to improve their backend returns by integrating their own rewards systems on popular blog and stream sites.
Do you see this as a positive movement for the community or a negative one? and why?
Positive one in the long run because of the potential utilization, with a negative concern about there being to many coins created that will be underutilized once created example someone makes an Anna coin backed by Steemit the value would be based on Steem.
What are your main concerns?
If individuals and groups will be able to see the value in it over the long run.
What are your main questions?
If you were to start a Steemit based token how would you advertise the need for it and the value to a consumer
What is the estimated time to make a return based on adoption metrics for a possible user some best case scenarios.
How would you change perceptions to let people see utility in it.
Kind of like why would you open a Subway - SMT franchise on steemit.
Before starting any ICO, one must fitst assess the market potential. The value of the token will initially depend on the amount of Steem funded into the SMT, after that, it's market demand. So you better have a live and active community before creating a token. Communities will not form because of a token, it's the other way around.
Wow awesome input! Thanks @freedomno1
Personally I love the concept of giving/sharing tokens as opposed to the ICO process.
It is a beautiful concept! Thanks for your support! I feel blessed to be on steemit during these "big" times
Creates a world of limitless possibilities. Already have some shit in the works.
Very true- I want to get in on that man, hit me on discord if you are interested in this white boy getting on board. lol
I have stared a compilation that focuses on issues that need to be addressed going forward. Like you, I will watch another week or so of articles and commentary before presenting the findings. (P.S. I am newbie to this 'space'; but not to projects of this kind of complexity, though my experience is in 'another professional life').
Nice to meet you, @bambam808!

Thanks!
A SMT will be exchanged through STEEM, so we won't have a pack of SMTs and STEEM only one of them. We will have STEEM, and after that a cluster of SMTs over STEEM. Market-wise, this will in all probability help interest for STEEM, as a token.
Additionally, the SMT age system is far more mind boggling than only a token issuance on the Ethereum stage. When you dispatch a SMT, you truly dispatch a thin layer of Steem-application-forms over your substance, including your own particular prizes pool, your own particular swelling model, your own particular voting and curation calculations and your own vesting component.
Hope this helps.
