The lack of middle-class hurting STEEM - POWER UP! ๐Ÿš€

People need to get USD value of their accounts out of their minds. Its the number of Steem/SP that is meaningful and will be meaningful in a rising market.

Its possible to get 20% or more ROI in terms of number of Steem tokens without blogging a word. Steem really is one of the best deals in crypto.

That's true, still only a bunch of users try to power up using FIAT or other crypto. The majority doesn't or do not try to build up a noticeable SP account. Thanks for replying @armadilloman!

ROI lol

You got the Point. :-)

Powering up is the most important thing a Steem User can do - grow your stake and spread the wealth :-) Still, it's quite saddening to see that I only have a '20 cents' upvote to give with more than 7000 active SP.

I do believe however that in the future even 100 SP accounts are quite 'wealthy' - so the middle class we're looking for now might end up being in the lower ranks compared to 'today'. I believe many today see Dolphins as the strong middle class we need, but I tend to believe that in a few years those are exceptionally rich accounts and the middle class is more in the Minnow ranks.

That means that if we aim for 10000 SP we'll have som real impact in the future as well ;-)

As for the not powering up: @paulag did a post about that recently, where she explained she discovered most Steemians don't even know they can power up and how it affects their accounts and the actions they can perform on the blockchain :-/ Education in this sense is the most important thing we can do. Ask any new user 'do you know how/why to power up?' and guide them through it. @steemonboarding will probably play a role in educating, and @steemsavvy as well.

Thanks for writing this up! Because in short: Powering up is important - 1st of May is 'SPUD' or 'Steem Power Up Day' - are you joining? :D Cheers!

Thanks for your amazing comment @soyrosa. Educating people about what the possibilities are is great; having an understanding of the complex system of Steem might be a bit too much for newbie or just non-tech users, so I think a big barrier STEEM will have to face is making the product accessible.

People still mess up with keys and authorization, let's hope that SPUD goes well tomorrow!

Hi @bafi, I have been unable to comment on posts for 6 days. A friend of mine can't comment or post. That's with Steemit. We're using Busy for now. I wonder how many of your dead users have the same problem and walked away? Or maybe they left temporarily and hope it will be fixed when they come back. I have seen people return after 4 months off.

Anyway, I came across your post while looking for where to report this problem. I wanted to tell you that I became a minnow this afternoon. Yay! So where do I report a bug?

Also, congrats on reaching the Minnow Status, I'm a piano player too!
Gave you a full upvote @kansuze

Hey @kansuze! Thanks for your comment!
I'm pretty sure that happened cause of the lack of RC to perform actions. Each action you perform on Steem waste Resource Credits, which gets fueled back over time.
RC is dependent on the SP value you have in your account. You can use steemd to check your RC (Resource Credits). Just go on https://steemd.com/@USERNAME

Let me know if you still have problem and I'll reach witness out.

@Bafi, there is not the slightest chance it was related to RC. I had checked. I could do anything except reply for 8 days straight. Just checked again now and discovered it's okay. I have tried to reply every single day, but thank you for replying.

Damn that's extremely weird.
Summoning @reggaemuffin for this, he can surely be helpful

I also have problems using steemit.com, I can recommend steempeak.com for @kansuze

Thanks @reggaemuffin. I will check it out.

And frustrating as heck but this is my 3rd reply, so far, so good.

There should be a cap on Steem Power like 1000 Steem Power Max.

This way the playing field would be much more fair towards any Steemit user.

No more whales, just people enjoying posting and commenting and no need for greed anymore.

I think a cap will limit the possibility of growth of single users in the platform. There are people that are extremely invested in the platform and some aren't at all. Maybe a solution is 50/50 split of curation/author rewards, leaving the system as it is. Thanks for your comment @pagandance

Steem has been a great example of human behavior. 1m users chased off by the bad users of the system. You should not upvote yourself. Read the Whitepaper.

Thanks for your comment @coinchaos. I read the Whitepaper and I encourage you to do as well.
Upvoting own post is perfectly fine, what is bad etiquette is to spam upvotes on each single comment, something that I never did.
You can use upvote to boost visibility, that's one of the added benefit of powering up.

Wrong. I have read the whitepaper 3 times line by line now and it clearly states that this behavior is bad.
