Some thoughts on bitcoin/steemit/crypto.

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

I typed this up for my Facebook audience so some of what is said here won't apply to people reading this on steemit or busy or where ever, but.. I wanted to share this anyways, this post I just shared on Facebook and I thought it was worthy enough to share here as well. Article will be below for anyone who is curious, and also a link to the IFC contest I'm working on that I mentioned in the rant in case anyone is interested in that as well. Peace! Talk to you peoples later. ._.

With bitcoin below 9k right now I imagine there's a number of bitcoin investing people who are starting to get nervous.

I'm more and more starting to think that what some people are saying about bitcoin crashing to around 1k and other alt coins starting to take their more rightful place is what's happening.

I think it's still too early to tell, usually when prices go down, people wanna buy it up and it goes back up and then down and up and down.. And.. Who knows.. Maybe bitcoin will eventually go back up to new highs.

BUT.. I am more and more thinking that those predictions of bitcoin falling and other alt coins rising may be in the process of happening.

Seems to be good news for steem cause even with bitcoin going down lower and lower, steem seems to be.. Not suffering as bad as it used to when bitcoin went down.

I certainly feel like steem is going to be a good coin! I'm happy I invested so much time in steemit and even though I didn't invest a single real penny.. Steem seems like a good bet more and more the more I learn and discover new stats about what's going on. :)

If there's anyone out there who reads this who hasn't heard me preach about steem a million times before and who is interested in making some decent money just by posting like they do on Facebook, lemme know! I'd be happy to help. :D

Steem seems to be a really good bet in my opinion, and.. It could even end up becoming really major some day. And even right now each steem or SBD you get is worth more than a US dollar, so making money on steemit in some senses for some people can be more profitable than working for US dollars at a regular job.

Even though bitcoin went down significantly and most of the market did as well, steem is still at $4.50...
That means each dollar you make on there and it's not too hard to make a dollar, but each dollar is worth $4.50 right now.

If someone was able to make the same amount of $ on steemit as they do in their regular job, they would essentially quadruple how much money they are making.

Some people are literally getting rich off of steemit the way professional athletes and artists do in the same kind of numbers. Like millions of dollars.

AND.. Steem is not going to stay at around $4.. A lot of people think it could go up to $50 or $100 by the end of the year and longterterm who knows, it could go up even higher than that...

I've said it before but.. Posting on steemit right now could literally be like mining for gold. What's happening with crypto currencies is like the "gold rush".

People are RUSHING to mine these currencies which have value and those early pioneers are likely to earn MUCH MUCH more.

One other thing before I go.. I wanted to remind you that I'm doing a contest on steemit the Grand Prize is 150 steem, and it's been a lot of fun so far!

If you wanna play it's not too late, you can still get in on every single round right now if you hustle, though I designed it so people can join later in the game as well.

Either way, I hope you try to stop giving Facebook and these other ultra rich mega corrupt corporations your spirit and time and energy so much and you try to give it more to other places that actually reward you for your time and effort and energy. :)

AND.. Which don't censor you! To me, that's equally if not more important than the monetary aspect and the ability to make money.

Fuck censorship and tyranny, long live freedom, love and resistance. <3

What STEEM has going for it is real use. Steemit.com is closing in on Medium.com. The market cap of STEEM is close to the implied market cap of Medium.com .

What more do I need to say?

Well said in regards to the real use part! Heh. I agree and I can say that and so many other amazing things but some people still seem so addicted to their Facebooks and other social media that doesn't pay them.

It truly is a sort of fascinating phenomena, I liken it to how older folks often have trouble learning how to use computers and stuff like that, like my mom for example can't handle using computers.. I think perhaps there's something similar with a lot of these people where they can't try out a new technology until like it has become mainstream.. And by that time, you can't make the incredible early adopter gains anymore.. So.. Yeah.. I have a feeling I'll be seeing a lot of them over here eventually! Unfortunately they won't have made as much money because they waited until it became "socially accepted and the norm".

PS.. I'm not really familiar with medium.com I'll have to look into it and see what kinda site it is and such!

Yep: that's why the gains from becoming an early adopter are so spectacular. There's a psychological barrier to entry that most can't overcome.

Back in 2015, I dropped to my dad that I had put a "little' money into cryptocurrency. He got agitated, so worried he was that I was being scammed.

And yet, at the close of 2017, he was asking me to explain Bitcoin to some of his friends.

I've been searching for this kind of post for the past 3 days. SBD is going down and I haven't even tried cashing out a single cent. I've been here less than 30 days and I know very little. I just wanted to see real fiat money lol.
I was really worried steemit was going to crash and this post is just what this noob needed! thank you.
I did google about this topic but all the results came back were from last year. I'm glad I saw this post today.

Glad it helped. :) And yeah.. I think steem looks pretty good! It's much more than just steemit, it's dtube, dmania, steepshot, dsound and other apps all built on the steem block chain.. So.. I think at this point with the rate it's growing... It will take something pretty catastrophic to stop this. But.. That is possible. I definitely wouldn't rule it out, yet it seems like many people would keep posting here anyways even if it did crash just to avoid the censorship.. There's a strong community here! And it's better than being censored on Facebook or YouTube or where ever.

Great Post!
This bear market sure does seem like its hear to stay which is a little unsettling. However I agree it is to early to say for sure. The run up we had was major so some correction is healthy. Only time will tell. Hang tight & Steem On :)

Thanks. :) And yeah, one thing I've learned more and more is that I don't know very much! Who knows what will happen. I think it's good to try to understand it all as much as we can though for sure!! Thanks for the thoughtful comment and indeed, steem on. ._.

wow if that steem become $50 each many steemians will be a millionaire and billionaire someday. I can't even recall when was the last time I checked my facebook account because I got addicted to steemit.

Yeah it actually hurts my head the kind of numbers involved, which brings me some doubt, though.. I think it'd be amazing even if it just hung at this level and never went up, gives people a chance to make some decent money by blogging. I think that's awesome!

well thank you for your follow me :)
and I agree with your desicion about cryptocurrencies these days....
