It was a lovely day when me and my Family were decided to harvest their cassava crops at the Garden near at the Cellsite tower. I was very excited to do the first harvesting activities and aside of that this was really the First time to do cassava crops harvesting. Early morning as we arrived at my Parents House, the tool use for harvesting was already prepared. I asked my Mother to do harvesting and she accepted my request. The garden is not really far from my Parent's house and it only takes a few seconds before reaching the Garden. My Mother planted lots of cassava crops only but she planned to plant lots of vegetables by next day.

After eating our Breakfast, we hurriedly went to the Garden not far from our house and it is near at the Cellsite tower. Together with my Daughter, we went to the Garden bringing somw tools use for harvesting and my Daughter was very delighted to visit the place and helping me to pulled out those cassava crops. My Mother's Garden is not really big and wide but hundreds of cassava planted here and some of it are ready to harvest. I carefully looked for any cassava plants to be pulled out and after a few minutes of searching, I found ten cassava plants ready to harvest. My Daughter was having a lot of fun time walking and running at the Garden, watching some wild flowers and insects was also what she did during the visitation while my Partner was also busy assisting and following here wherever she go. I started to pulled out some cassava crops and gladly there are three to four crops each tubers. I was very happy to see those crops and for me, my Mother's hardwork and dedications really paid off.

It takes almost an hour of cassava harvesting and gladly we gathered lots of it. I was very surprised to see this big crops I've harvested and it will be very perfect to sell this once of we gathered lots of sacks. Pulling out those crops was slightly very difficult for me because some plants was very hard to pull because of the soil. My Mother forgot to cultivate the soil that is why it get harden but I kept myself doing it until it was completely harvested and pulled out. I tried to estimate the weight of the crops and it looks like it will reach 10 Kilos, after that we decided to went home to make one of my Favorite snacks here in the Province, The Suman.

Preparing To Cook Suman Delicacies

As we arrived back home, my Sister volunteered to pelled those cassava crops and I accepted her request. This can make the work done on time, she is very expert pelling cassava crops in fact she always doing this everytime when we brought lots of cassava last year. Pelling cassava is not difficult and it only takes a minute of pelling each. After almost half an hour, my Sister was completely finished pelling those crops and after that I washed it with clean water so the dirt and soil will removed and washed away. I also started to shredded it using a sharp thin can. It helps to have a perfect texture and can easily wrapped using banana leaves.

My Partner also get some few young banana leaves and those leaves will used to wrapped the shredded cassava. After getting few banana leaves, He put it in the flame for a seconds, this can help removing those small insects leaving the leaves. I cutted it and removed at the stalks using a sharp scissor and wipe those leaves with clean clothe. My Brother also went at the store just to buy few ingredients just like Brown Sugar, Margarine and Condense Milk.

After shredding, My Partner also used clean clothes and put those mixture so we can squized and extracted the juice out of cassava. It only takes a few second of extracting process and after that He put it in the mixing bowl and repeated the same process until it was completely done.

Pulvorizing after extracting the juices must do also. This can help to mixed the engridients very easily, it takes a few minutes of doing it and my Partner was having a lot of fun time doing it. While waiting to the engridients to arrived that my Brother's brought, we kept pulvorizing it until the texture was completely in fine texture.

After a few minutes of waiting, finally tge engridients has arrived and the next We added is the margarine. Putting it in mixing bowl without heating it is very difficult, the taste would not be balance that is why we decided to heat it so it will melt before adding it at the mixture. Mixed it very well can help balance the taste and adding maragarine will make the snacks tasty and delicious.

After mixing those melted margarine, I added the brown sugar. I slowly added the right amount of sugar so it wont get very sweet, I mixed it very well so it will balance the taste and last is the condense milk. Good thing we have mixing bowl here and I can easily mixed all mixtures and it takes a few minutes.

Wrapping it using banana leaves must be handled very slowly and carefully so the leaves wont be cut. After mixing all mixtures, I used spoon so I can estimate the exact amount of shredded cassava to wrapped. I rolled it in the banana leaves and folded each tip of the leaves so it wont get out once it will cook. My Younger sister also helped me doing the job and for sure it will done on time.

It takes almost an hour of wrapping the texture and gladly we made almost hundred of Suman snacks. After that we tied it into twos and put in the pail added with clean water and boiled for 45 minutes. This is also a good kind of business that is why My Mother is decided to plant lots of it at her Garden. We really enjoyed harvesting and cooking my Favorite snacks. Until next post, have a nice day to everyone.
