Low blood sugar can happen to anyone without exception, especially in people with diabetes who use insulin. Hypoglycemia can occur when blood glucose levels drop below 70 mg/dL. This is in accordance with the criteria set by the American Diabetes Association (ADA). However, in people with healthy conditions, low blood sugar is almost impossible. The use of certain medications, especially anti-diabetic drugs, greatly contributes to decreased blood sugar. In addition to excessive alcohol consumption, critical medical conditions, and tumors known as insulinomas can also trigger low blood sugar. Insulinoma is a rare tumor that develops in the pancreas, an organ that functions to produce the hormone insulin to regulate blood sugar levels. Low blood sugar levels can also be influenced by cortisol deficiency, as well as liver or kidney disease that has reached the end stage. The consequences of low blood sugar can face a condition called hypoglycemia unawareness. Mild to moderate hypoglycemia can cause various negative impacts.

Low blood sugar conditions should never be taken lightly, because it can cause accidents such as falls and broken bones. If low blood sugar lasts for a long period of time, it can cause more serious effects and potentially damage brain structures. People with symptoms of low blood sugar are strongly advised to adopt a regular diet. Then exercise regularly to maintain the health of the body's organs. Regular health checks are also highly recommended to detect liver or kidney dysfunction early, so that it can be treated before the condition becomes more serious.
