"Prove yourself as the best artist for the week"- Watercolour painting "Pope Francis"

Today is my night shift day that is why I am at home during the day that is why I decided to spend some time with my art exercises. Actually when we were watching the news this morning we were shocked to hear that Pope Francis who yesterday was on the television screens and attended celebration of Easter. He was looking well, of course on wheelchair and maybe frail looking but still he seemed to be strong enough and got over his illness.
The people who visited Vatican yesterday were very happy to see Pope shortly there. There was also a Vice President of USA Vance, the only what we have heard that Pope mentioned about the importance to compassion with refugees and express his thought about the strict political stand of new American government. But over night he just passed away on Easter Sunday, on such an important day for Christian and one of the important holidays.
I usually like to capture famous people in my paintings and drawings. Often it is just pencil drawings but I also love using watercolour paints to express portrait. It is one of the best medium because you can use more of less of this medium, you also can use different styles and if it is done well, then any style looks gorgeous. Watercolour is considered to be a queen of all the art mediums and also the most difficult and the one who manages to learn how to use it will enjoy it and will became a real master, because then it will opens the most secrets of watercolours.
I am learning watercolour and actually I am sorry that I do not spend more time practising it. Of course, there is always something like motivation and inspiration. Today when I heard about the news about Pope Francis, I just wanted to do my watercolour portrait in memory of this person and I hope you all will like it.
First, I took my watercolour paper and simple graphite pencil 2B for sketching.

Very simple sketch, when using watercolour paper do not erase just leave for later if htere are any mistakes. I liek this and like proportion.

I would like to invite @m-fdo, @nexcis and @ezunjoshy for this contest

As always, a beautiful piece.
Just looking at it makes me want to try it out immediately but alas, I am far from home and my tools.
I only have my graphite with me and some colour pencils. Will give it a shot though when I’m free.
Once again, a beautiful piece 🌹🌹
