Good decision, makes perfect sense! Hopefully the link on the steemit frontend will reflect this change soon.

I submitted the changes in github so hopefully they will appear soon.

Happy the accounts and history remain on the new platform :)

May I ask a dumb question or two? Would I use my Steemit credentials in Steem.chat, or is it a separate registration? If separate, do people commonly use the same username they use on Steemit? Finally, if separate is there anything preventing bad guys from using Steemit usernames already in use and making mischief?

Hi, You do NOT use your steemit.com credentials, just Steemit.chat 2 entirely different operations :)

Also, yes alot of people use the same username on chat as it is on Steemit. If we catch impersonators on chat we deactivate their accounts

As someone who is in chat every single day, i'd like to share my thoughts on this.

First of all, you made my day by saying that you will share the rewards of this post amongst the volunteers. The moderators on chat are doing an awesome job daily by helping the community and at the same time keeping it clean from spam. They deserve this so much that you could consider doing this more often.

I would love to see more people joining the chat daily, not to just say hi but to actually stay and get to know each other. I have learned so much from others in chat about steemit. I'm thankful to everyone who ever answered a question i asked, and believe me, i asked alot of questions..

So everyone who reads this, join us in chat and be part of our community there. I'm sure you will find interesting people to learn from or maybe find some beginners which you could help.

As last, thank you @followbtcnews for all your efforts. You are actually replying on DM's about suggestions and also i see you helping people in chat from time to time. This is very nice to see as we all can imagine how busy you are. Thanks again!

Thanks @ferow !! And thank you so much for the help you give at steem.chat The volunteers are whom makes steem.chat a great place. If not for you volunteers, there would be no steem chat. I fully intend to take all liquid rewards from 100% of all weekly steem chat posts and divide them among the active mods.

Also, I am coming up with other ways to try to compensate volunteers..

Thanks for all you do!

Hey thanks for keeping the chat around. It’s been a really special place for me.

Steem is nothing without people and this is the best place to connect in my opinion.

Do I get tired of being asked the same three questions in general? Sure. But all of the hassle is worth it when I consider all of the people I’ve met there.

I appreciate you.

Ahhh, look at you making the steemit world a little easier for the fishes swimming by. Thank you!

will the link on the steemit website get updated eventually to direct you there, to the new one??

Yes, we submitted PR's to Steemit condenser Github, and hopefully they get added soon. :)

ok sweet that will be awesome, thanks for the quick reply!

Will the chat link be moved up above maybe the 3rd party exchanges on the drop down to make it easier for new users to see and find it? Right now the way it is it is hidden for most users on most screens.

As the person that made the changes I can say the link stays put but will just point to a new place. I don't think the folks at steemit would have appreciated it if I started rearranging their menu

There is just a gap above and below Blocktrades and Gopax which makes the chat link hidden on the menu. No rearranging needed if there is a way to tighten up the gaps above and below the exchanges.

They are their own unordered list. Each individual list has a gap after it so there is one above and below. I couldn't say why it is that way but that is the way it is designed.

These gaps.

I see them. Look at the source of the web page. That is css making those gaps. Everywhere you see a gap a new list begins. I don't know why they are all their own lists but they are.

I don't think so.I believe it will remain in same spot

Thanks for the update. I am sure this the name steem.chat is more encompassing than steemit.chat. I will review my witness votes to support you because this is a good project for keeping people engaged.

@eurogee

Hi Jeff! Nice to cross your path here. I have voted for @followbtcnews and @crimsonclad (i think! Going to check...) on advise of @lyndsaybowes as i continue to get aquainted here on steem.

Sometime down the road i will checkout steem.chat! Sounds like a fun place to hang out!! Hope to see you around. Hope the transition goes real well.

Hi, Nice to meet you.. Thanks so much!
