Steem Cartoon : Classroom by the Beach
Yesterday was the first part of my excursion with my students to Pulau Pangkor...that was the first that I have done for my students while infusing the entire holiday with classroom material but with a different sort of method of delivery. Who says only the students will get bored? Sometimes the lecturers like myself get bored too...so that is when we take our minds and soul and soak it in the seawater and bask in the sunlight...
I now present you this piece of work that my students compiled and made it into a video clip...
(please don't ask me why the video gives certain individual more air time than others, I guess the videographer has his personal preferences...*wink *wink)
Caution, its Addictive
This are my bunch of students. When they tell you that the creative media students are a fun bunch, they are not kidding, they are a fun bunch. Throughout the entire vacation cum classroom outing to Pulau Pangkor we had a whale of a time...the use of the term 'whale' was not meant to be on purpose and after I wrote it then I guess it fits very much into the sentence. Even when I was working for Magazine, there are times when we run out of idea and we all just needed a good break to renew our spirit and our creative juice will start flowing again.
This picture above is not about teaching the students survival skills when they fall into the water, but it is an Art talk by Mr. Tariq one of my former student and also the CEO of Glue Studios, an animation company that produces the animated series 'Rimba Racer'.
His presentation was very candid and straight to the point, and at one point, he told them that even if you are drowning an inspiration may hit you and that inspiration will lift you up so much that no water could bring you down. I know it sounds pretty weird, but there is a good point to be delivered. In our line, a good idea makes the difference between success or failure.
Either the students were really excited with Tariq's stories or they pretended to be interested to avoid going into the sea. Now back to classroom stuff, Tariq spoke about the animation industry and how a creative content provider must be alert to changes around them in order to present the best material to the audiences and to stay connected. Sometimes, artists are too attached to their pride that they forgot their rice bowl is dependent on feedback by the people who contribute to their income which is the audiences. We all live in the real world, hence everything is a chain of interaction pretty much like in the Steemit ecosystem.
Even Artists Get Hungry
Well, we do get hungry and that is when we take a short break from our lessons and fill our stomachs. Usually when the stomach is hungry the creative mind refuses to be creative. The only thing that the creative mind is interested is how to find food creatively.
You know what they say about eating carbs, you get lazier after eating and my students prove the saying to be true. A short break ended up being a long one. But its okay because they have a pretty chill lecturer as their chaperone.
There are good memories to be cherished and I hope to have enough budget this year from my University to do the same again. Its free trip for me afterall...the only difference is that I am now with beard and beanie.
Wah, Pangkor again! I'm gonna remember the deep cut on my foot.... :/
hahaha... pity...
