Peeking at Historical Traditional Objects at the Lhokseumawe City Museum

Hello everyone..
Established in 2014, the Lhokseumawe City Museum is fully managed and is the responsibility of the Lhokseumawe City government. Although it was inaugurated late, namely in 2019, this museum already has many historical collections and the most prominent is the Replica or architecture of the Aceh Traditional House. The Lhokseumawe City Museum is located on Jalan Teuku Hamzah Bendahara, Kuta Blang Village, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City, Aceh Province, Indonesia.

Preserving the cultural heritage of a region or the social order of a region's society as well as being a place to learn about history is the main purpose of establishing a Museum. The museum is also a source of inspiration and educational tool for the community and the new generation of the local area. Not only that, the museum also functions as a historical record for the world community to know and acknowledge the struggle, uniqueness and even the birth of a region or country.
Another reason that may escape our attention about the benefits of museums is that they are aimed at the younger generation or the new generation where going back to the past is very difficult because the younger generation only knows the history of the struggle of tens or even hundreds of years ago only from books, writings or conversations. History is very difficult to appreciate, be grateful for and use as inspiration without seeing directly and in detail historical relics in the form of objects or writings that are full of stories of struggle and certain events that later gave birth to a civilization, existence and independence of a region or nation.
Don't forget, if you want to visit this museum, just bring money for an entrance ticket to the museum area of 10,000 IDR or the equivalent of 4.4 Steem (price when converting Steem to IDR) via coinmarketcap.
Lhokseumawe City Museum has hundreds of collections, including:
Aceh Traditional House
It is a traditional Acehnese house building with a replica / architecture exactly like the original. Inside there are a number of historical objects such as a pelaminan, kama inoeng (women's room), women's accessories such as necklaces, also gold coins, spears, jars, kande (lighting lamps) and fishing tools and several other historical collections.
What is unique about the Aceh Traditional House? This building is built almost all of the buildings do not use nails except for flexible ropes. This Traditional House is also equipped with stairs leading to a short door on the front side of the house with a building height of more than two meters. The entire building is also wrapped in carvings and ornaments with socio-cultural nuances of the Aceh provincial community.

The main parts of the Acehnese traditional house building that are typical are the short door, which is only 120-150 cm high, so you have to bow when passing through/entering the house. Other main parts have a front porch, middle porch and back porch. and, the entire roof of the building uses woven dry rumbia leaves.

Balee (Hall)
As a resting place, Balee also functions for guests or travelers to stop and rest. Not only that, Balee which is built adjacent to the Aceh Traditional House building is also used for religious teaching and learning processes both during the day and at night.

Aceh Cannon (Meriam Lada Secupak)
The cannon has an extraordinary story because this war tool was a gift from the Ottoman Empire (now known as Turkey). Yes, a diplomatic gift given to the Sultanate of Aceh as evidence of the beginning of close relations between the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Aceh, or an exchange of souvenirs between the two kingdoms.

Krong Padee (Rice Barn)
Krong Padee is a special place built to store harvested rice, namely rice grains that have been separated from rice stalks (straw). Krong Padee is deliberately built close to the Rumoh Aceh building or under the house building to ensure security from various acts of theft.
In addition to reflecting cultural identity and a symbol of prosperity, this place to store the harvest is made of wood and its walls are made of woven bamboo (trieng) shaped like a house frame (stage) and its kroeng is circular with a diameter of approximately two meters or as needed, with a building height of approximately 2-3 meters.

next...
Jeungki (rice Pounder/Crusher)
It is a traditional tool for pounding/crushing rice, even people in the past also used this jeungki to crush coffee beans, emping and even sago. It is no wonder that this historical tool is still used by a number of people living in the interior of Aceh province.

Tambo (Traditional tool for communication)
Yes! Tambo is a traditional tool for communicating or conveying information, this tambo used to be placed in places of worship, village halls (meunasah) which functioned as a tool that was hit to inform the time of prayer, announcements to gather the community for village meetings/deliberations. Until now, Tambo can still be found and functioned in a number of places of worship in rural areas.

There are several types of tambo in Aceh, including musical tambo, namely tambo used as a musical instrument or in regional arts activities. For additional information, Tambo also became a notification tool for the Acehnese people when the enemy arrived or during the war against colonialism.

Information board about Samawi Bay Coins
Teluk Samawi Coin (KTS) is a coin introduced by the Aceh Darussalam Kingdom when Sultan Muhammad Syah was in power around 1814. The "Keuh Aceh" coin or coin is a sign of the existence of a bay or large port in ancient times.
Teluk Samawi or currently known as Lhokseumawe City, yes! according to history, the city was once the center of government at the end of the Aceh kingdom's rule.
