There were several great apps and Play Steem is still beta. I think it's a good one. Those bugs are in steemit.com too. If you switch communities it goes wrong (my guess). You need to go to your profile first, next communities and next choose the one you like and click post.
I don't think so but they do not charge anything either. They need support to be able to go to the Play Store. It's still developed and a big help to me. The notifications for example are very helpful.
