An interesting thing about satellite internet is TDMS (Time Division Multiplexing). Via TDMS, a satellite modem receives ALL data from the satellite it is pointed at, including that uploaded by other users. Each user is assigned a time slot where their data is served to them, while they can upload continuously. The data is then winnowed via software, so each user is only served what they personally request. The other data is just ignored by their computer.
