Italian police investigate cases of controversial leaflets on Lazio Ultras

Italian police and football authorities (FIGC) are investigating the circulation of controversial leaflets among Lazio supporters. In the leaflet, women and children were advised not to be in the stands occupied by ultras.

The leaflet is known to appear when Lazio host Napoli in the first week of Serie A 2018/2019 at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Saturday (08/18/2018) then. By various circles, this has sparked criticism, especially for those who consider sexism in football to be a setback.

A spokesman for the Rome police said that the investigator had pocketed two names of suspects referring to the case. However, the unnamed police was reluctant to specify the identity of the two suspects in question.

Meanwhile, one of the FIGC officials who incidentally a former Italian national team attacker, Carolina Morace, called the message conveyed through the leaflet as an unjustifiable act.

"We returned to the Middle Ages. I hope those who have been proven to be involved in the leaflets are barred from entering the stadium," Carolina Morace said, according to The Guardian.

Previously reported, ahead of the first week of Serie A 2018/2019 circulated flyers among Lazio supporters. The message in the leaflet reads as follows;

"Women and children do not fill the first 10 lines of Curva Nord. It is a sacred space for us. This regulation is not written, but must be respected," said the message.
