Women's Double Adds Two Representatives in the World Championship Quarterfinals
Della Destiara Haris / Rizki Amelia Pradipta and Anggia Shitta Awanda / Ni Ketut Mahadewi successfully stepped into the quarterfinals of the 2018 Badminton World Championship.
Della / Rizki first escaped after stopping the Thai couple, Chayanit Chaladchalam / Phataimas Muenwong. In the last 16 round of matches at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center on Thursday (2/8/2018), Della / Rizki won 21-16, 21-12.
Meanwhile, Anggia / Ketut defeated sixth-seeded Korean Lee So Hee / Shin Seung Chan. They won two straight games 21-15, 21-17.
Thus, Indonesia placed three representatives from the women's doubles in the quarterfinals. Previously, Greysia Polii / Apriyani Rahayu had already passed.
In the quarterfinals, Della / Rizki will face Shiho Tanaka / Koharu Yonemoto. While Anggia / Ketut will challenge second seed Yuki Fukushima / Sayaka Hirota.
Meanwhile, the mixed doubles did not leave a representative. Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva Oktavianti stopped in the last 16.
Praveen / Melati was stopped by third seed, Sue Tang Chun Man / Tse Ying. Fighting tightly for three games, Praveen / Melati finally lost 15-21, 21-19, 24-26.
Thus, Indonesia placed four representatives in the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Badminton Championship. In addition to the three women's doubles, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo / Marcus Fernaldi Gideon also went to the last eight.
