Jake Paul attempts to fight real boxer, real boxer says no
Crossover fights are the bane of the boxing world that unfortunately are a lot bigger money-makers for the people involved than real boxing matches have been bringing in as of late. It's a real shame to people that genuinely enjoy combat sports because these Jake Paul matches are just horrible with the Mike Tyson fight being the creme de la creme of awfulness.
While I haven't been following his career very closely, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez recently was contacted by Jake Paul for a crossover fight and while the details are not very clear, the negotiations failed and Carnelo has opted instead to stick to legitimate prize fighting instead of going for the big paydays by having a circus event with Jake Paul.

Now make no mistake here, Alvarez is extremely wealthy with an estimated net worth of $250 million. To say that he doesn't need a big payday from Jake Paul is an understatement. His wealth isn't purely from boxing either as he is a successful businessman including owning a chain of gas stations in Mexico and yes, despite what his rather Irish looking appearance, Canelo is Mexican.
He is considered by many pundits to be the best pound for pound boxer in the world right now and for many that would be surprising that Jake Paul would try to fight someone that would appear to be capable of beating up almost anyone in the world but here is something you need to take into account. Canelo is 5 foot 9 inches tall and weights around 165 lbs. Jake Paul on the other hand is 6 foot 1 and 227 lbs. This major weight difference is likely the only reason why Paul was willing to fight him in the first place, further displaying how Jake only wants to fight in rigged competitions. Jake Paul's only loss came at the hands of the only active genuine boxer that he ever faced. That fight was also quite close in terms of weight class as well. I didn't watch it, but Jake lost by decision and many were claiming that the fight appeared as though there must have been a hidden clause in the contract where Tommy Fury would lost a bunch of money if he KO'd Jake.

This potential deal between Paul and Canelo was kept off the radar and was only spoken about by a few people and to me, it kind of looks like Canelo might have been using this rumor of fighting Jake instead of sticking to real boxing as a bargaining chip to lure the Saudi's into offering him more money. The Saudi's seem to have almost limitless money but the amount that they agreed upon for a 4-fight contract with Alvarez is being kept a secret. Since Alvarez was previously involved in a $365 million deal with Oscar De La Hoya, you can probably assume that his new contract will be even more lucrative.
Some are praising Canelo for being a hero of the sport by turning down Jake Paul but there is a piece of me that doesn't really think that he is that much of a purist but was rather just chasing more money by using Jake Paul as a bit of a chess piece. Perhaps him and Jake are actually friends and Paul was just in on it as well. Who knows, who cares. All I can say is that I am happy that those two aren't going to fight and it is just retarded that anyone would even consider a fight between two guys that are 60 lbs different in weight. We don't need another spectacle like that laughably bad fight between Floyd Mayweather and Jake's brother Logan.
