Tribes (SE) vs Communities (SMTs) : Will They Compete?

As Smart Media Tokens (a.k.a SMTs) are nearly approaching its availability to the public, there's a lot of conversation about the competition between the two. Tribes actually exists for the expense of SMTs delayed promise and the Steem Engine team made the technology almost a year now from what they offer in SMTs.
The advantage of SMTs is that aside from they are being implemented by Steemit Inc., they are directly integrated in Steem blockchain in a sense that it can be viewed on Steem.com/steemit.com sites. In fact, there will be a decentralized exchange in which transactions are confirmed by the witnesses. So SMTs will be more visible especially when viewed in Steemit.
Will They Compete?
Yes and I am certain of that. Communities will be a big factor to a decrease in tribes user base. People will start flocking into these communities and I believe people are starting to bag Steem to wait for the launch of startup communities. I will also be saving some Steems but I'm heavily investing in Sportstalk.
However despite of the competition I believe they will together flourish. I'm just kinda afraid Steem Engine team decides something that will make the tribes fall. There's someone in the team that I can't trust and I prefer not to dispense that information. But if you look at the big picture, both of them will surely flow like rivers.
I'm also expecting other tribes will switch on to Communities and the tribe team will match the token purchased and staked by its users. Technically, they're just migrating their servers and condensers to SMTs. I believe some will do that.
So I'm open for discussion regarding this topic because I believe the coming of SMTs made the selling pressure very high. I've placed a 204,000 Sports bid in the market right now which means I'm still all-in for Sportstalk.

Hey @battleaxe, I miss your STS curation :)
been busy , gotta catch up tommorow or something
I'm in with optimistic group that both Steem and SMTs will find a way to flourish together in the longer term, until then i hope we can avoid some bumps along the way.
