Paul Pogba has been a top target for Real Madrid with their manager, Zinedine Zidane publicly expressing his desire to have a player of Pogba's talent in his squad ahead of the new season in order to get the team back on track after last season's dire on pitch performances.

Paul Pogba was missing in Manchester United's preseason final game; a penalty shootout win against Italian team, AC Milan. But Solskjaer claimed Pogba's absence was a preventive measure against his strained back and not his desire to leave the team as reported.

Here is what Solskjaer has to say;

"I wasn't expecting him [to travel]," he said. "I spoke to him after training and he didn't feel right. It's not an injury, it's just some pain. I wasn't going to risk anything." He'll probably be back early on next week training.

While the Spanish team, Real Madrid could still cut a deal to bring the Frenchman to the Spain's capital as the Spanish transfer window does not close till the 2nd of September, it would leave Manchester United incapable of signing a replacement, thus making the deal seems more unlikely.

When further asked if Pogba still wants to play in a United shirt, Solskjaer replied “Yeah” and he's convinced the French midfielder is still happy to pull on a Manchester United's Jersey.

With that said, the future seems bright for Manchester United as they get to keep one of their prized assets as they look to challenge for the English Premier League, starting with their match against Chelsea FC next weekend.

Happy Reading!
