Jonatan Christie advanced to the 2019 Japanese Open semifinals. In the quarter-finals, Jonatan defeated Danish men's singles, Anders Antonsen.

In the match that was held at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Tokyo on Friday (7/26/2019), Jonatan won two straight games, 21-12 and 21-14.

This match is the second meeting for Jonatan and Antonsen. At the first meeting in Indonesia Masters 2019, Jonatan lost 18-21 and 16-21.

Jonatan Christie completes five Indonesian representatives who qualified for the semifinals of the Japan Open.
