How To Make Money Watching Sports This Weekend
Last night I gave the Houston Rockets at -3.5 as a free play. They won the game, and covered the spread with ease. We were right on the mark; the Pelicans new and improved frontcourt was still no match for the Rockets.
Friday offers a much smaller board, but one game immediately jumps out to me, and that is the Los Angeles Lakers, heading to Oklahoma City, to take on the Thunder. This game opened up at -8.5, but quickly got bet up to -10, and for good reason. This is a classic example of two clubs that are headed in opposite directions. On one hand you have the Thunder, coming in at 32-25, and currently in 2nd place of the Western Conference. On the other hand you have the Los Angeles Lakers, who finished the first half of the season with a putrid record of just 19-39. Unfortunately for the Lakers, the 2nd half of the season is not going to be any better than the first half of the season. It is in the Lakers best interest, to race to the bottom of the standings, and focus on their draft picks in the next several drafts. I look for Oklahoma City to come out and make a statement tonight, as the Lakers suffer from an All Star Break hangover.
Trends:
The Lakers are 7-19 against the spread, in their last 26 games against Western Conference Opponents.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are 14-3 against the spread, in their last 17 games against teams with a winning percentage below .400
Free Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder -10
