Social Media
What is online reputation? Do you manage your online reputation? Do you know how people perceive you?
There is a serious amount of personal and business information shared every day and often without fully understanding the extent, perceptions or consequences of the information shared.
According to Reputation Defender
92% of people have said that discovering something negative about a contract through an online search would impact their perception (YouGov PLC)
82% trust the first page rankings from search engine results (YouGove PLC)
80% of employers/recruiters Google you before inviting you for an interview
Social media can be very daunting for some and for some it can be an easy way to share feelings as the only feedback you receive is in writing and not face to face. Managing you and your information is the best way to go.
Think of social media and online reputation as your fingerprint to society and in society. Should I be on social media? Do I have the capacity?
• What does the brand look like?
• Is it Male or Female?
• What colours would you associate with it?
• What name would you give it?
• Is it National or International?
• What profession does it practice?
No matter how “under the radar” or “low-tech” your lifestyle, there is a good quantity of information about you online—and people are seeing it.
If someone writes something negative about you online, it can put you at a serious disadvantage over the long term—especially if you’re not aware of it. You might never know why you didn’t get that apartment you wanted, or why a job offer never materialized after that phenomenal interview.
It’s important to keep tabs on what people are saying about you online and then take steps to correct any inaccuracies.
Negative comments and articles increase the chances of your business losing business two fold as the negative articles increase. You are a brand of your company.
Social Media platforms ultimately drive traffic to your website or your company’s website for that matter. How can you add to this? The how, why, what and when is important for you and your company.
• What is a trend or innovation in your industry that makes you excited, worried, or angry?
• What are the biggest challenges in your industry? This is the birth of the “How to…” blog post.
• What question do your clients ask you the most? What do you wish they knew before coming to you?
Saying all of this can be extremely daunting, but start slowly and when you are ready Be yourself, no one knows the information until you put It out there for everyone to see.
Very, very important, whatever you put out there you or information you share, you do not own it, it is not deleted easily and it is governed by its own laws, not yours
Two tips to remember:
- Your reputation is what other people say about you when you leave the room….
- Social media is more than just being social. Respect it!

I agree, the reputation is extremely important, something you can not buy, but should earn.🙂
And can lose so easily
So true!

Nice content. https://amatosoft.com
Public availability of information is a blessing and a curse, especially as social media expands and becomes more popular. A viral post can make or break an unsuspecting user!
You are very right.

Great article, You are realy good at writing.
One thing we need to do is to think before acting.
Think before talking about somebody, think before doing something.
Everything that we do have it's own consequences.
Thank you for this post and hope this will wake up people and make their think before posting.
Thank you and very good comments
This is something that we have to tell the youth of today. I literally know so many people who have gotten fired from their jobs because of social media.
