Why a Harden MVP is bad for the NBA
James Harden won a scoring title, but doing it by taking more shots than anybody else, and bending the foul rules to get to the line all the time? Pfft..It slows down the game and makes for ugly basketball in my opinion. Sure, he has a lot of assists, but that's because he's always bringing the ball up, and either shooting or kicking it out to the 3 point shooters.
Most of the time, Harden initiates the contact, leaning in to the defender or swinging the ball to brush the defenders arm, and gets the foul call. I guess he has been valuable, and the Rockets have won a lot of games, but I'd credit the addition of CP3 and the improvement of Capella as the main drivers of this Rockets run.
I haven't mentioned the defensive side either. MVP? Common man
