The Washington Nationals have a chance to make quick work of the St. Louis Cardinals. After winning the first two games of their National League Championship Series on the road, the Nationals will be in DC Tuesday night for Game 4, and a potential sweep of the NL Central champs. TBS has the first pitch at 8:05 PM ET.
Patrick Corbin (3.25 ERA) will take the hill for Washington in his second playoff start. The 30-year-old southpaw took the loss in an otherwise strong showing against the LA Dodgers in Game 1 of their NL Division Series, then got rocked for six earned runs in an ill-fated Game 3 relief appearance. But Corbin came out of the bullpen in Game 5 and held the fort in their series clincher, and made a brief two-pitch, one-out appearance during Saturday’s 3-1 win over the Cards in their Game 2.
St. Louis will respond with Dakota Hudson (3.35 ERA), a first-year starter from Mississippi State who made his playoff debut October 7 in Game 4 of their NLDS versus the Atlanta Braves.
Hudson pitched the first 4.2 innings, allowing one earned run (and three unearned) in an eventual 5-4 victory.
