Ramos makes La Liga red card record
Ramos was awarded his 19th red card in top flight Spanish football which took him above Pablo Alfaro and Xavi Aguado in the standings to become the player with the most red cards in the history of La Liga.
The defender got his first yellow for a foul on Raul Garcia in the 11th minute before getting his second yellow on the 86th for leading with arm against Aritz Aduriz.
Ramos equaled the record of 18 red cards in La Liga when he was sent off in the first match of the season against Deportivo La Coruna.
During his Real Madrid career, the defender has been sent off a total of 24 times – he was sent off thrice in the Champions League and twice in the Copa Del Rey.
Indeed, it was remarkable that Sergio Ramos actually spent a whole season in 2014/15 without being red carded. His first season at Madrid saw him receive four red cards.
