Jimmy Butler Traded to Minnesota
Prior to the third pick being announced by Commissioner Adam Silver, news broke that Chicago Bulls guard was sent to the Minnesota Timberwolves along with the 17th overall pick. In exchange, Chicago received the 7th pick, Zach Lavine and Kris Dunn.
Butler has been the topic of trade rumors for some time. Reports surfaced during last year's draft that trade talks were ongoing between Chicago and Boston/Minnesota. Those talks never materialized into a deal and Butler was joined by Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rando. Chicago proceeded to go 41-41 before getting knocked out by the Boston Celtics in the first round.
Butler will reunite with former Bulls boss Tom Thibodeau who is heading into the second year behind the Minnesota bench. Butler matured under Thibs going from a late first round pick into a top 10 all around player.
It may be a year later, but the rebuild appears to be on in the Windy City. What does this mean for Wade, who opted into his $24 million player option earlier this week? Does he get bought out? Does he end up in "The Land" with LeBron?
What do you think of the deal? What does this mean for Chicago?
Very guard heavy now - Markkanen must be their pick...
Good call.
Timberwolves team looks quite stacked now!
Yea Thibs has to be quite happy. Good for him. Always thought he got a raw deal here.
