The first FIFA World Cup was arranged by Uruguay in 1930 from 13 to 30 July 1930.
FIFA selected Uruguay as host nation, as the country
would be celebrating the centenary of its first constitution , and the Uruguay national football
team had won Gold in football at the 1928 Summer Olympics.

Total 13 teams were participate in this tournament. There are 9 countries were from America and others 4 were Europe. Most European team didn't want to participated because of the
difficulty of travelling to South America.

The first match was played between France and Mexico and France was won by 4-1 goals.

Uruguay , USA,
Yugoslavia and Argentina each won their groups to
qualify for the semi-finals. In the final, hosts and
pre-tournament favourites Uruguay defeated Argentina by 4–2 goals and became the first nation to win the World Cup .
