How do you define an athlete?

in #sports7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians!

This is my first post after finally being approved into this lovely community. I'm looking forward to sharing posts that I personally find inspirational and motivating from elite athletes and everyday athletes.

How do you define an athlete? by fame? fortune? adoring fans?

Or as stated in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition of an athlete is;

I believe being an athlete is having the strength, both physical and mental, to achieve the goals you've set. Challenging yourself to achieve what you considered impossible by your passion and your determination. You don't need thousands of fans or thousands of dollars to be defined as an athlete.

"If you have a body, you are an athlete." Nike co-founder, Bill Bowerman
