The coach of the team, Mladen Krstajić, decided to appoint 27 players for the grouping preceding the participation of the team from Europe in the upcoming World Cup. Among his chosen are naturally experienced players such as Vladimir Stojković, Branislav Ivanović, Aleksandar Kolarov, Nemanja Matić and Antonio Rukavina.

The list also includes Predraga Rajković, Miloš Veljković, Nemanja Maksimović, Mijat Gacinović, Sergei Milinkovic-Savić, Marko Grujić and Andrija Živković, ie players who reached with the youth representation for the world championship up to 20 years in 2015.

Noteworthy is the fact that in the wide Serb team there was a place for the well-known Aleksandar Prijović (in the 2017/2018 season 27 hits and seven assists in PAOK colors).

The final list of the 44-year-old team will be known before or just after the friendly meeting against Chile (June 4).

This year's World Championships will take place from June 14 to July 15 in Russia. Serbia its third participation (without Yugoslavia) in the tournament for the title of the best team of the world will start from the rivalry with Costa Rica, Switzerland and Brazil in group E.
