13 clubs set to pull out of upcoming season

The 13 clubs in question are set to forfeit their involvement next season due to unpaid salaries.

They have been told they will need to settle their arrears by the 15th of August or face being denied entry to the league.

In a correspondance from the CFA and AFC included current champions Guangzhou Evergrande and big spending Shanghai SIPG who have players on the payroll like Hulk, Ricardo Carvalho and ex-Chelsea player Oscar.

To give a taste of the wages these clubs are paying, Shanghai have Argentine Carlos Tevez on their books who is on a weekly salary of £615,000.

Of the top tier sides, only 3 have no issues with financial requirements.

This is coming only 6 months after the Chinese government made a move to clamp down on big spending on overseas players, saying that the behaviour impeded on local, youth development.

Maybe now the clubs will listen as they have no choice but to scale back on their transfers and wages.

Thanks for this article :) Chinese football have potential

Agree but I think they should have limits on transfers and foreign players to allow the young Chinese players to develop. The English national team has suffered as a result of big spending on foreign players
