Results of First Conflict + Onboarding Pirate Nation Community to @splinterlands

in #splinterlands2 days ago

The first Conflict of Conclave Arcana ended Airdropping a quite powerful Legendary Card to the investors of Rebellion + Conclave Arcana investors. The evolution of the Airdrop system has been a very positive journey. The old system rewarded Whales who bought in bulk and dumped the Booster Packs on the Market. The Original Conflict system with a beautiful narrative woven along with it was one of the best implementations of an Airdrop system in the entire cryptosphere.

What we have now is an even better system where the @splinterlands players themselves are responsible for building the Mage Wagons with the resources they get from Praetoria. Land is becoming more and more connected with rest of the gameplay. The promises from a bull market ago are slowly being delivered.

A Song Of Ice And Fire

Even though I did not have any guaranteed Cards, I had a 7.625% chance of receiving Zyrx the Emberglace. I did not have funds to invest in Conclave Arcana and it was the same for Rebellion. The bear market was too tough. I am happy to have at least a few Cards from each of the latest Editions.

Apply The Potions

Each Potion double the chance of a receiving very rare Card (Gold Foils and Black Foils). Since the chance of receiving one is already very low, do not expect to see a big difference when using these on a single Card. The results become more obvious when there is a large number of Cards. I bough 50 Midnight Potions for myself after learning that I have 1 Card Airdropped.

It is possible to buy the Potions after realizing you have Cards to receive from Conflicts. I have enough Alchemy Potions from Reward Chests. I only had to purchase Midnight Potions. This process does not have to be rushed. Feel free to proceed calmly.

Airdrop Results

It was a Regular Foil Zyrx the Emberglace that can be very useful in some scenarios even at Level 1. The price is higher that what it cost to build a Mage Wagon. Right now I have enough Cards for 2 Mage Wagons to use in future Conflicts.

Burn Notice

I did not immediately proceed to buy Wagon Kits. The main reason is the low cryptocurrency prices. I wanted to wait until the prices get better before investing in the Airdrop participation. One thing I love about the new Conflicts structure is the extra breathing room we get to have between the events.

We have 8 more Airdrops to go through and it would be great to have more players around when they happen. It is a good thing for the ecosystem as a whole to have a large active playerbase that can take @splinterlands to the mainstream. Frontier Mode has been a massive success. Read the article to learn more.

Price of Wagon Kits

These prices are set by the free market. Depending on the supply and demand, the prices can fluctuate. I don't remember if there were any fees for selling on this Market. Even if there were any, that is a massive amount of revenue Steem Monsters Corp. leaving on the table.

All of this leads to a more sustainable and decentralized gaming experience on blockchain. Merely having some assets on a blockchain does not make a project Web 3. We are more than a Web 2 project that is wearing the coat of Web 3.

The March Towards Land 2.0

@cryptomancer has been the primary powerhouse behind Land development for a few years now. He has been doing an incredible job. I do wish to see more developers working on Land to speed things up. We will have to wait till onboarding and Booster Pack sales go up before focusing on the more "advanced" parts of the game.

The new Land Abilities and associated Cards were not even on the original Whitepaper. It is a new addition that could make the game more interesting. So far the team has been good at making sure each feature adds far more to the game for the added complexity it create. Managing feature creep is extremely important in a Web 3 game. The same can be said regarding power creep and NFTs. We cannot be arbitrarily messing with the mechanics after it get released to the world.

Saving Pirate Nation

@clayboyn was extremely quick with his actions and he should be praised for bringing Pirate Nation to the attention of Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund within a matter of hours from the game going defunct. This is a fund supported by SPS to reward players coming from failed blockchain games. Read the Proposal for implementation details.

The interview is from an year ago. The following beginner's guide is only 4 months old. There was a real game and they had a massive following on X. The team + community could not sustain the project for the long term while Splinterlands has been growing stronger and stronger over the 7 years it has been around.

We are in a stage to provide a helping hand to failed projects and communities. This is a good way to support those who have been embracing blockchain gaming. These are tech savvy players who had risked their funds betting on Web 3. They are prime candidates for onboarding IMHO.

Happy Gaming! Happy Investing!
