Beginner Strategy and Card Giveaway
Today we are going to continue our lower league strategies. These are ideas that can be implemented in the bronze and silver leagues and only require Level 1 Summoners and Monsters. I'm also going to try to rely on cards or combinations of cards that utilize newer cards (Promo, Reward or Untamed) and are more commonly available. There are lots of amazing powerful cards and cord combos but I want to provide ideas that have the most broad access to new players.
This combo is from the Fire Splinter and has an amazingly high success rate in standard format, melee mayhem, broken arrow...
The first card in the Tank Position is:
Living Lava
This is a Rare card from the newer Untamed Card Set. If you don't have access to one it is available in the marketplace for $0.046 making it VERY affordable. In its Level 1 format you have 3 melee, 1 speed, 2 shield, and 6 life. This makes it even more powerful in a reverse speed battle. The bonus is that it comes with Shield. This reduces incoming damage from melee and ranged attacks.
The second part of the combo is:
Molten Ogre
With a face only a mother could love (and the jury is still out on that one) this common Promo card was recently introduced into circulation. Again, as before, if you don't have one you can purchase one in the marketplace for $0.023. As a Level 1 you get 3 melee, 1 speed, 0 shield and 10 life!! The key to this combination is the ability Demoralize which reduces your enemy Monsters melee by 1 (but not to zero).
If you are still waiting to see how this works out, recall that many of the Monsters in the lower levels are Level 1 and don't have melee or ranged attacks beyond 1. For those that have 2 melee, the Demoralize reduces that to 1. The attack capabilities of these enemy Monsters is reduced to zero impact!!!
Personally I like to play the Ogre in the second position so by the time they do get through the Tank there is a second Tank ready to takes its place.
Like all strategies this is not error proof; for example it won't work against a Magic rich opponent or in low mana formats. But it is highly effective in many game set ups and only needs 16 mana in addition to the Summoner.

Remember to have fun and Play On!!!
I wasn't using Ogre at lower leagues, but its interesting idea. With Chain Golem Ogre works fine in higher leagues, using Lava instead of Chain Golem is extremely weak to magic, BUT there are no damage dealer in current starter decks new player will be facing most so it can be very effective. Good Article!
You are absolutely correct, the combination works even better with Chain Golem! However, that is a Legendary card that costs over $2.49 so not everyone will have one. Also this strategy would work for a Neutrals out daily quest. But thank you for the alternate combo version.
I still remember when I used to play living lava. Still at level 1 yet very useful. Awesome post!
