About Being the Most Superior (Superior Sense)
Based on the Perspective of Ki Ageng Suryamentaram & Jesus on the Gospel of Matthew
In the Langgar Book, Ki Ageng Suryamentaram (KAS) teach about happiness as follows:
"The most important things,
The taste of happiness,
That flow from the disappearance of the envy and pride,
And become peaceful.
The disappearance of the sense of superior, desire to be the greatest,
The appearance of the sense of always feeling enough and compassion,
Rich of having the life and enjoying the world,
All our needs fulfilled,
All of our soul fulfilled by loving each others,
When we lost our desire to supersede the others, the disappearance of the sense of superior"
Alright, according to the lesson from KAS, the desire to supersede the others is the root problems in the damaged society, this kind of society always stay in competition which keeps them away from the peace. This desire to become the superior is the poison that poisoned human minds, superior in idealism, ideology, religion, politics, belief, wealth, power and so forth. Therefore it is said that happiness will come if the desire of superior or desire that wanting to be the greatest already disappeared.
Now we try to compare with the story of Jesus in Matthew verse 18: 1, as follows:
"Jesus and his apostles had just come back from a long journey, and the apostles quarreled, and after the journey he asked them: 'What are you fighting in the middle of the road?' Actually, Jesus knew what they were fighting But he asked the question to see if the apostles would tell it.
The apostles did not answer, because in the middle of the road they argued about who among them was the greatest. Some of the apostles wanted to be more distinguished than others. How will Jesus tell them that it is inappropriate to want such a thing?
He called the little boy, and put him in front of them all. Then he said to his disciples: 'I want you to know this well, Unless you change and become like little children, you will not be able to enter the kingdom of God. The greatest in the kingdom is who became like this little boy.'Do you know why Jesus said that?
Yes, very small children do not worry whether they are bigger or more reputable than others. So the apostles should learn to be like children in this and not quarrel over who is greater or more prominent. "
From the two lesson above, I understand that what the little boy meant by Jesus is that people who are not worried about whether they are bigger or more prominent than others. Children always play together, happy together, laugh together without discriminating ideology, religion, race, intelligence and so forth. They just know that laughs are fun, and laugh does not require racial / ideological / skin colour / religious similarities and so on.
Race / Ideology / skin colour / Religion / Belief / Idealism is only thought that always comes in the ADULT mind, when we bravely examined the roots, its comes from the sense of envy and pride, the adults always tends to avoiding feeling cursed when envy dominate the self (insult) and always seeking pleasure (pride) when able to defeat others. It is clear, however, that the superior feeling is to see the bad things or the unlucky of the others.
So now it is clear to me that the sense of superiority is the desire or inclination to become the greatest and the most prominent one, that much happens to the adults who said -ironically- they was able to use their mind. But unfortunately, his mind is used to attach himself to the idealism of seeking excellence in any case, worship must superior, education must be superior, the wealth must be superior, in any case must be superior which consequently there is a pattern of people who seek superior. In this kind of society, I assure you that superior is a pleasure that watching the others suffers.
While true happiness is the fruit of the consciousness that life is to bless each other. From this understanding, arises words such as:
"Rahmatan Lil Alamin"
not just Lil Muslimin (People who considered himself as Islam), not just Lil Insaanun (Human Being) etc., but Alamin refers to the whole universe.
or
"Sabbe satta bhavantu shukitatta"
may ALL THE CREATURE happy, the words "ALL" refers to WHOLE creatures not just certain creatures.
or
"V'ahavta l'rey'akha kamokha (You shall love your neighbor as yourself), I beleive that neighbor is means all of the things around me, not only humans, but there are plants and animals and all the things that support our lives, not just intensively referred to as your friends or simply a "fellow-Jew" that translated by fanatic Jews, Jesus explains "your neighbor" in the parable of the good Samaritan, about loving your enemy, about doing something you want others to do to you, universal love, love without reason, love for no reason, just like you also love yourself for no reason "
For me, and may be for us that already live in the world of love, that is how the phrase "on earth as it is in heaven" is meant, only when humans can get rid from the desire to become the superiority that always attached in his identity of self.
