WHY MYTHOLOGY IS SO IMPORTANT
"One of the great things about reading so many books on ancient religion, fantasy, and mythology, is that, everyone I meet becomes a reincarnation of some character, and the situations are always epically illuminated. You'd be surprised how much of our reality has already been, time and time again.
My perception of the world has become infinitely more colorful than most, with an ethereal mystique, and so you must excuse me if I refer to you in a foreign name. I may just see you as the timeless beauty you are."
~ Doc de Lux
Most people dont realize how much of our reality, especially our language, has been influenced by ancient mythology, namely Greek. One does not need a psychology book to understand what narcissism means; they only need to read the myth of Echo and Narcissus.
These myths, whether Biblical, fantasy or both, have typically been cautionary tales and truths of their times epically exaggerated and romanticized. As any true old book lover will tell you, history does indeed repeat itself. Fallen angels, apocalypses, and revelations, are always and forever.
With love,

For many people, the crude reality is very tough to cope with, so they need to scape it, to live in a dream. Not everybody is strong enough to see the reality as it is.
So true. I've met several Hanuman prototypes and several Elegbas.
As it turns out, I really don't get along with the Hanumans. I like him in the Ramayana, but maybe not in real life.
I think more than ever, we need to cling to the idea of myth from a folk and classical perspective. Currently, much of our myth making comes from corporations and brings along several dangerous lessons.
The mythologies that humanity has come up with are indeed fascinating. But I think that if you always put other people into old archetypes, you run the real chance of imagining them as something they are not. Instead of getting to know them for what they are, you are assuming you understand them before you actually do.
That's why I wouldn't be thrilled if you assumed you know me for "the timeless beauty" I am and started ascribing traits to me that I haven't exhibited, but you feel apply because they applied to the character I reminded you of for some reason. More often than not, real people will have more dimensions to their character than the mythological figures you might feel like comparing them to.
Myth is the vehicle for truths to live on.
