RE: SpaceX Reveals Their First Moon Passenger And Updated Rocket Designs

in #space6 years ago

Things are coming along fast, I believe we will continue to see leaps in space travel, but the stars are yet so far. Mars is on the doorstep, and it would be good to have an outpost, but what then??

Personally I believe being beamed or teleported as a datastream is more likely than actually travelling those distances, perhaps one day 'versions of ourselves' will autonomously assemble themselves on distant systems....

Sort:

For the next few centuries, I think, humanity will look to colonise Mars and make a sort of an Earth 2.0 there, by making it habitable for us. At the same time we would have a permanent base or two on the Moon and will be well on our way towards the moons of Jupiter and Saturn. Some of those might have some favourable conditions to host life and we might see a need to set up something there too. Beyond that, it's anyone's guess.

Teleportation sounds really cool and it would be the holy grail of space travel (or any travel really), but from what I have read, it's really really hard to do. But who knows, we have always achieved the seemingly impossible and might achieve teleportation too.
