🎼 Czech Traditional Folk Music in a Modern Way 🎤🎧

As in many countries, there is also traditional folk music in the Czech Republic. Usually, you can hear such music at folklore festivals, where people are dressed in traditional folk costumes such as those you can see in the following illustrative video posted on YouTube.

There are, though, some of the recent music bands, which decided to create their own modern music based on the traditional folk music, and that’s what I want to show you in this article.
Before I get down to the song from a recently establish band, which I want to tell you about, I’d also like to mention a band called Čechomor (read Č as ch in chocolate and ch as in Loch Ness monster). They got together in 1988 and since then, they’ve been releasing new songs and albums and they’re quite popular in our country. Even though there isn’t any connection between this band and the band I’m going to describe later, I think it’s good to mention them as they were the first to start with this kind of music. Below, you find a song, which I personally like the most. The music video is not exactly amazing, there are lyrics translated into English in comments, though.

I got the inspiration for writing the article from @metametheus, who wrote this article and it’s a part of #song-challenge and #hifimixtape.

Now, the band and their song I’d like to present here. This band was established in 2017 and becoming more and more popular. It’s called Vesna as the goddess associated with youth and springtime in early Slavic mythology. They’ve already released a few singles and are about to release their debut album. The presented song is Kytička, meaning a little flower. Here is the lyrics in both, Czech and English version.

The song is about those, who’ve decided to push their limits and even to overcome them. It’s about not being afraid and make the step to the dark and continue your own way.
