Manchester City vs Newport County

in #soccer6 years ago (edited)

Phil Foden scored twice as Manchester City beat Newport 4-1 to move on to the quarter finals of the FA Cup.
Newport showed a good control in the first half and had a good number of opportunities. They put up a very solid defence and were composed on the ball, with the half ending with both sides at a standstill.
Newport looked like they could be ahead after the first half and there was sure to be drama in the second.
City finally get the lead 6 minutes into the second half. Sané scoring after being played in by Jesus.
Foden gives City their second goal in the 75th minute, blasting a shot straight into the net.
Newport pull one back close to the 90 minute mark, with Amond playing a fine volley over the keeper to find the net.
City, however, offer an instant reply to Newport's goal. Foden dribbling past three players and playing the ball into the top corner.
City still manage to add one more in injury time. Mahrez finishing it off at the keeper's near post, giving City their fourth goal.
Despite being beaten, Newport played some great football against City. Manchester City now continue their FA Cup journey, moving on to the quarter finals.
