How the Spring Hike Soap Came to Be ("A Romantic Story") and How I Wrapped It
Well, friends, I am still having difficulty uploading to d.tube, but I want to share with you more of my soap videos. So, forgive me, but I will be share with you from YouTube vids until I can master d.tube. I'm here to share soap stuff (and more) and that I will do!
So, today's feature is a soap I created this Spring, and to quote from my own blog on my actual shop website, this is how the "Spring Hike" soap bar came to be. It is, as I've said, "A Romantic Story".
[Quoting from my own blog]:
"My sister recently got married. I couldn't have been happier for her! Yes, I cried. They were happy tears. This young lady (10 years younger than I), waited for a long time for her groom, and the wait has proved to be worthwhile! A few months before the wedding, I asked her if I could provide guest-size-soaps to give as party favors for the guests to take home -- something that would celebrate the happy couple at the same time. She was happy with that plan! And so, I got to work.
It was a fun project for several reasons, one of which is that I don't only enjoy soaping, but I enjoy other creative outlets, including calligraphy. I had a fun time putting these pretty little scented gifts together.
But the journey turned out not to be simple for me at first, because I apparently took the Cucumber Melon Soap and the Eucalyptus Lemon Soap out of the loaf molds a little too early. The result was soap that kind of "fell" overnight, which made the soap loaf a funny shape. I had to cut it by hand to get as many as possible redeemable rectangle guest soaps out of those two batches of soap. It went well, but I was left with A LOT of odd-shaped soap pieces that needed a home.
Then, one evening, I set about to make two loaves of soap with a scent I had not yet used called "Woodland Fragrance". I had previously flirted with the idea of combining these misfit soaps with the Woodland scent. With careful consideration, I thought they would go together well! That decision made, I peeled the Cucumber Melon as well as the Eucalyptus Lemon Soap with a potato peeler, making them nice for combining with the new soap batch. I weighed out the amount I would use, and then adjusted my soap recipe based on the amount of peeled soap that would be added. After making and pouring, the only thing left to do was wait...and wait...and wait for the soap to set and become it's permanent resulting scent.
Weeks have now gone by allowing the soap to really set up, and the result is: BEAUTIFUL SOAP IN A LOVELY SCENT! I really like it!
Introducing to you, our limited-quantity-available Spring Hike Soap Bar! I think you will love it!"

Well, that was a fun event AND a fun blog to write and share. I didn't record myself making soap too easily earlier this year, but I DID put the camera on me for shrink wrapping and labeling. I hope you enjoy this video if you are looking for a some product-wrapping how-to ideas.
Happy Soaping (or whatever your special handy work is!)!
(Update to my blog and soap: By this time, I've put this soap on sale because it's shelf life is waning. That can happen at times. It's kind of a medicinal scent.)
What a lovely gift for a wedding - especially your sisters! They are really pretty @buysoaphere.
Thank you @buckaroo --- I hope you are well. I just took a little weekend get away this past weekend and it involved visiting this same sister and getting to know my new brother-in-law! I will write about it later this week!
