Easy Trick To Stifle That Unwanted Sneeze
HEY GUYS!
So this last week I've been a bit sick with a runny nose plus some hay fever and it's made me remember a little trick I discovered back in high school. When I've told people about this tip before they've said "but I like sneezing!" and I understand that this is true for the majority of people.
However, there's definitely times where sneezing is just plain uncomfortable and gross. A perfect example is when your nose is running like Usain Bolt and you have a head full of phlegm, that's never the cleanest experience. Sometimes we get a sneeze coming that lingers in our nose and feels like it will never leave. Other times we just don't want to end up like this kid below.
I worked this one out in high school to safely get rid a gross sneeze in class. I've done a bit of research and I haven't found much online about why it works and I'm not sure how widely known this is. As of yet my sister is the only one who has tried it and did confirm it works so if any of you guys give it a go I'd love to know if it's helped or not. :)
If you feel the sneeze coming on and you don't want to do it just use your index finger and middle finger from both hands to rub each side of your nose from the bridge to your nostrils, similarly to the picture below. I find that if one finger on each hand is on your nose and the other is rubbing the space in between your nose and face it works the best. Almost immediately you will notice that the feeling disappears and the burden is lifted.
If you are driving and you don't want to run off the side of the road you can do the same thing with one hand by using your thumb and your index/middle finger so you can keep one hand on the wheel.
Hopefully I've given you the knowledge to avoid spoiling a special moment in your life with snot or saved you the embarrassment of sneezing everywhere in front of your crush.
PEACE
What a funny little idea for a post - but I clicked and read it, so here's an upvote!
Had no idea. Will definitely be trying this next time i'm under the weather. lol I'm always afraid to sneeze when driving, it's amazing there aren't more accidents because of a good old fashioned sneeze.
Thanks for sharing.
Awesome trick, thanks for posting!
One horizontal finger pressed firmly and upwardly against the columella. This is taught in the USMC. Can't be sneezing when the enemy is about and you're trying to be all sneaky.
