General FAQs

1. What is Steemit Minnows Party (SMP)?
SMP is a platform that helps new Steemit members discover and engage with one anothers' Steemit posts through mostly non-bot means and increase their STEEM and SBD earnings in the process.

2. What is the purpose of SMP?
The purpose of SMP is to encourage authentic human-to-human engagement on Steemit and make it more financially viable for those who put in thought, time, and effort into creating meaningful posts.

3. What are the benefits of being an SMP member?
There are four main benefits of being an SMP member.
a) Meaningful peer-to-peer interactions and networking opportunities on the Discord server
b) More quality human engagement on Steemit posts
c) Increased Steemit earnings
d) A friendly Discord server on which to get Steemit-related doubts cleared

4. How is SMP different from MSP (Minnow Support Project) and other Steemit Discord servers?
SMP is different from MSP and other Steemit Discord servers in the following ways:
a) It has no complicated joining formalities.
b) It is less restrictive in terms of rules.
c) It discourages bot usage.
d) It allows for an unlimited number of posts to be shared daily (in the "Post Sharing" channel).
e) It occasionally gifts small amounts of SBD to the most unselfish members (depending on the balance in SMP's Steemit account).

5. Who runs SMP?
@tintiano

6. Is SMP trustworthy?
Not really, but it costs nothing to be a member, and you don't stand to lose anything by making meaningful connections on SMP and receiving post engagement from fellow SMP members.

7. Why doesn't SMP have its own Steemit upvote bot?
As a matter of principle, SMP does not encourage the use of upvote bots. Steemit is overrun with bot upvotes and automated comments, which does not augur well for the future of the ecosystem. In the view of SMP, Steemit should be a platform where people can post original content and receive authentic human engagement, earning in the process. The amount of bot usage on Steemit discourages those who put in a lot of thought and work into creating meaningful content and encourages those who are only interested in making quick money (which is detrimental to the future of Steemit).

8. Are SMP members forbidden from using bot services or upvoting others' content using bots?
No.

9. How does SMP reward active members?
SMP members reward themselves by earning the validation of other members and the upvotes, resteems, and comments that come their way through this server.

Also, SMP occasionally gifts small amounts of SBD to the most unselfish members.

10. Where can I find the Official SMP profile on Steemit?
https://steemit.com/@steemitminnows

11. Where is the SMP Discord server?

"Post Sharing" Channel FAQs

12. How do I use the "Post Sharing" channel?
a) When posting, write at least two sentences about each post. This will help generate interest and help you receive comments, upvotes and follows. Users who post links without writing this description will be blocked.

b) Steemit allows you to earn from your comments and upvotes. Please read the posts of others and leave them meaningful comments and upvotes. Follow them if you wish to.

c) If you have commented or upvoted someone's post or if you have followed them, leave a message here (the "Post Sharing" channel) tagging them so that they can verify. This will likely get you comments, upvotes, and follows from them and others. It will also motivate others to engage more with SMP members' posts. This is critical to the success of our bot-free SMP.

d) Post as often as you wish, but don't spam.

e) Please avoid casual chats on this channel. The focus here is on the posts. Casual chats can happen on the "Casual Chat" channel.

13. How many times a day can I post in the "Post Sharing" channel?
As many times as you want...

14. Why is a two sentence description compulsory for each post I share in the "Post Sharing" channel?
A description of at least two sentences for every post shared in the "Post Sharing" channel is mandatory for the following reasons:
a) It helps others decide if they want to read your post.
b) It helps you advertise your post better and receive more engagement. Taking the time to write a good description of your post demonstrates that you care for the other members and their time.
c) It helps prevent spam.

15. What happens if a post is shared without a description?
A post without a long-enough description will be deleted. Those who repeatedly share posts without descriptions will lose access to the "Post-Sharing" channel.
