Airdrops galore and ICO fever, part #1 of: A story in the making ... (a generation helping elders to partake in the new economy.)
As I continue on this wild ride in the cryptoshpere, the amount of white papers and proposals, launched platforms, some which already seem to be left unattended and barely launched 2 or 3 months back...
AND most of all:
SO MANY SOLUTION DRIVEN IDEAS THAT WILL RESULT IN MASSIVE DISRUPTION TO MULTIPLE MARKETS. And yet I pause for a moment to wonder, how many projects will succeed in their mission? How many will keep on track with their proposed White-paper? and the most burdening question of all, Are you Legit, or am I wasting my time (reading, getting informed, and making educated decisions as into a particular project's implementation being good or not) researching and keeping up to date with what is REAL news and not FUD? I know I am not the only one, even as a seasoned crypto adopter, I can't assume anything, I can only rely on my instinct and discernment.
After having explained to many peers, colleagues, and family about the opportunities that exists in this space , the reality of mass adoption, the re-thinking of what defines an economy, and further down the rabbit hole they always seemed to take me. The more I shared, the more questions I would get, the more answers I would provide, the more counterarguments I would hear. To all the peeps that have heard the typical "..be carefull," or the "... I know someone who lost their passwords or keys or whatever and lost a lot of money...." I know how you might feel. I get really PASSIONATE about having a system, WRITE IT DOWN. Don't copy paste important information that could potentially be found by the wrong hands and then end up with your accounts being hacked and wiped out, left at a - negative balance in fiat or LTC, BTC, BTH, ETH, XRP, WAVES, and others.
I have always embraced technology, as a designer, musician, programmer, software developer/ engineer, content creator. But as much as I am a digital kid, I have at the same time kept to my philosophy: Paper will "always" constitute at least a 3-5% of how we store/ keep records, contracts, and other items which require a paper copy for validity and contractual obligations. I am sure other use cases can be demonstrated, or applied. I have about 20 of the top of my head, but that is not the takeaway here. The KEY takeaway here is that, no matter how secure you keep your computer or smartphone or your "Gateways to the blockchains and the digital currencies you own", there will always be some vulnerability to have to keep an extra eye on. When talking about crypto wallets, asset storage, etc... PAPER IS YOUR FRIEND, IT CAN SAVE YOU HUNDREDS/ THOUSANDS/ MILLIONS/ B /... WHEN YOU UPDATE YOUR COMPUTER'S OS AND YOUR PASSWORDS DIDN'T TRANSFER PROPERLY, or AT ALL, PAPER IS WHAT WILL KEEP YOU FROM HAVING TO MAKE A TRIP TO THE E.R. due to A HEART/ CARDIOVASCULAR EPISODE.
This is a lesson learned and as they say, pay it forward. I personally have seen the evolution taking place, rewind to a year ago, when I had gained several certifications in a couple of programming languages that I wanted to add to my vocabulary. I Sent my #Coinbase referral link (https://www.coinbase.com/join/593742aea68077042566eb09) to my mother, who is quite conservative and has experience and assets in the stock market.
Her reaction was what I expected. "Be careful dear, I had a few co-workers that got into Bitcoin when it launched, and lost a lot of money...." this was the ongoing sentence as if my mom was the Times Square stock market ticker stream. I heard lectures and had heavy arguments with my father who is 79. To him his iPhone 7S is just a phone, with access to his email, some text messaging, and does not have the knowledge that he has a little computer in his hands. He now is more affluent in technology than at this point in time. I told my mother "Mark my words, the logical evolution of technology is exactly like this... something so massive, that it seems too complex and unrealistic to even fathom, as the internet was before it was available for consumer access and people who were not in technology had no idea about."
FASTFORWARD A YEAR:
My father now uses his iPhone 7s as a camera, which was a big deal when he started discovering his smartphone's capabilities, it has become also a tool for communicating in groups, seeing his new granddaughter over Skype, as my niece lives in San Francisco, and we live in Puerto Rico. It makes me happy that all those conversations about using his tech to his advantage have started to sink in and he continues to get surprised by the capabilities of his newly found "handheld computer". As for my mom....
She was the most resistant to crypto than my father, as he just didn't understand, and has always been the type to not judge or take sides when he is not well versed in the topic at hand.
You would not believe it, but now she has a registered Coinbase account, knows at a 201 level about crypto, IMO, and has been using CB to get her feet wet. This has been for a few months, and in the midst of a mayor bull trend, she has been able to capitalize when she had almost given up hope. I know I have been successful in at least planting the correct SEED with the generation most millennials blame for the world's health and industrial abuse.
With that SEED planted, I helped in expanding the mass adoption of cryptocurrency to an original non-believer. The non-believers that have just recently realized how massive the disruptive technology market is are bitter and think they have missed the boat.... But it is never too late to get into cryptocurrency, keep it safe, as it will keep going up in value (or not), and as it becomes more common to, I don't know, pay for pastries and bagels at the bakery down the corner, fill up your tank with BTC, pay for an UBER with XRP or an Ethereum ERC-20 token, use LTC for quick transactions and as a good starter coin, for those skeptics that still are out there, it is the most affordable of the top coins, and is available in Coinbase. Wait for a dip, and get some LTC or whichever your research has shown you to be a good crypto asset.
The same SEED planted, the same SEED applies to you. If you have opened a wallet for any cryptocurrency, or have any wallet address', always... ALWAYS, KEEP MORE THAN ONE COPY OF YOUR PASSWORDS, SEEDS, PUBLIC/ PRIVATE KEY PAIRS, ACCOUNT INFORMATION, AND ALL THE DETAILS OF ANY ACCOUNT OPENED BY YOU.
...how many parts will this series contain? That depends on you.
p.s.
I am looking into the smoke network, https://smoke.network.com and https://smoke.io. Reading on their white-paper and seeing something similar to Steemit but focused on a single topic, Cannabis. It seems to be a decent proposal for a decentralized social network for those who partake, be it medical or recreational. Check it out. Ill probably be posting some ICO or Project that I am researching at the time, and provide my two cents.
:ALWAYS:
.think fast.
.dig deep.
.dont waste your time in examining the space and analyzing till you can't analyze anymore, without having taken the steps to be in the space..this is the future, weather you like it or not..educate and propagate.(#ecohash [a solution for...?]- next article in this developing series).
